Environmental Justice Program
Mother Africa’s Environmental Justice Program promotes health and safety for immigrants and refugees by addressing environmental challenges that disproportionately impact our communities. Through education, outreach, and action, the program works to reduce harmful exposures and equip families with the tools and knowledge needed to build safer, healthier environments.

Our focus areas include:

  • Mitigating Risks: Reducing toxic exposures in the home and community through awareness, education, and the promotion of safer daily practices.

  • Education Sessions: Offering vital information to empower communities in safeguarding their health and well-being.

Current projects under this program include:

  1. Poverty Bay Fecal Pollution Reduction Education and Outreach Project

  2. WRRED (Waste Reduction and Recycling)

  3. HEAL Act Project

  4. Air Quality in Overburdened Communities

  5. Healthy Homes and Climate Resilience Project

  6. Food Equity Program

These initiatives aim to address environmental health risks while strengthening community resilience through culturally relevant outreach and education.
