Position:  Program Manager

Reports to: Deputy Director

Hours: Full-time exempt position

Location: Must reside within Puget Sound Region

Compensation: $70,000.00 - $74,000.00 annually depending on experience

Benefits: The benefits package includes mileage, healthcare stipend, vacation, public holidays, and sick leave.

ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION:

The mission of Mother Africa is to support African women refugees and immigrants and their families to reach their highest potential. We have been working in the South King County area since 2012 and have a strong record of community-led projects and programs. 

 

OVERVIEW OF POSITION:   

Mother Africa is seeking an Experienced Program Manager to support program-level staff including Program Supervisors and Program Coordinators. The programs you will supervise support multiple communities, detailed program information will be provided later. This role is positioned to be a part of the leadership team, with the opportunity to impact the organization with critical decision-making. 

 

JOB DUTIES:

The Program Manager will provide direct support to all program staff. Key aspects of the role include: 

●      Have a strong understanding of the program design for each of the programs you are responsible for supervising, including the expected deliverables, timelines, and budget. Track these deliverables to ensure effective progress and outcomes are met.

●      Meet weekly with each of your supervisees to provide 1 on 1 supervision support for their program work. Provide coaching and feedback on areas supervises are excelling and areas for growth. 

●      Meet bi-weekly with the Deputy Director to create continued alignment between the organization’s vision and program implementation.

●      Meet weekly with the leadership team for ongoing organizational support and decision making

●      Attend funder meetings and community meetings as needed. 

●      Attend program events to support staff. 

●      Play an active role in program evaluation for each program, collecting data and analyzing to see whether we are on track to meet metrics. 

●      Report any barriers or challenges in program delivery to the Directors and participate in creative problem-solving.

●      Oversee all monthly, quarterly, and/or end-of-program reports for funders.

●      Make purchases for the organization based on approved program and operations budgets, with oversight from the Deputy Director. 

●      Call for and run the monthly staff meeting.

●      Perform annual performance appraisals for each of your supervisees. 

●      Ensure that all agency policies and procedures are carried out by all supervisees. 

●      Perform other duties as assigned.

  

EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILLS: 

●      Supervision experience of staff in a social service agency, minimum 2 years. 

●      Prior experience as a case manager in a social service agency, minimum 2 years OR Prior experience doing program coordination or implementation in a social service agency, minimum 2 years.

●      Proven ability to relate effectively and respectfully with people from diverse backgrounds and to promote a culturally diverse environment

●      Effective communication styles for a leadership level.

●      Ability to establish and maintain professional boundaries with staff and clients 

●      Compliance with HIPPA and confidentiality.

●      Experience with maintaining a program budget 

●      Track expense receipts and timely reconciliation 

●      Ability to create new systems and protocols such as case management best practices, filing,      data management, timesheets, and client tracking.

●      Experience with data tracking and drafting reports for funders.

●      Experience with program monitoring and evaluation, has served on an evaluation team before. 

●      Ability to thrive in an ever-changing environment, being flexible to changing conditions.

●      Knowledge of human service delivery systems and systems advocacy, and solid understanding of King County available services and resources.

●      Ability to work with immigrants and low-income families of diverse ethnic, language, and cultural backgrounds in a sensitive manner.

●      Willingness to comply with established agency performance standards.

●      Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Suite. 

●      Must have reliable, independent transportation for frequent travel between sites, a valid Washington State Driver’s License, and proof of car insurance.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

●      At least five years of experience or understanding and working with African or Middle Eastern refugees and immigrants or living and working in Africa. 

●      Graduate level degree OR bachelor's level degree with additional years of work experience. 

●    Second language proficiency in languages spoken in Africa.
