In early 2014, Mother Africa was identified by the Seattle Foundation as one of four community based organizations to participate in their annual Giving Project, which is a collaboration with the University of Washington Evans School of Public Affairs. Evans School students interviewed members of all 4 community based organizations to evaluate a grant proposal submitted by each organization. Criteria included feasibility, connection to and representation by the communities served, impact, and vision. Mother Africa was selected as the full recipient of this grant process!
The 5k funding received from a private donor is being used to hire a consultant for strategic planning, the development of marketing materials, and seed funding for the communities participating in the women’s group project.
